Hi i have an e53 x5 3.0d that has problems starting . . . when i turn the key for over 15 seconds it starts????

Get it scanned for fault codes to reduce likelihood of trial error part replacement to rectify. Plugs worth a look maybe

Hi,
I'm not sure if its the same on the X5 diesel but my wife's Astra she has to let the glow plug light go out.
So she turns the key so ignition lights on including the glow plug light then waits about 3-5 seconds then the glow plug light goes out, then she starts the car and works 1st time.

Thanx for all the responses i ended up buying my own diagnostics tool and the only problem was fault code 1195 rail pressure regulating valve . . . Now the only problem is i cant find it???? usually there is a sensor on the rear of the common rail and the regulator in front, in my case there is no regulator in front????? weird
