Disabling seat belt warning

Post by Lummox » Sun Jun 16, 2013 6:41 pm

Hi all, was wondering if there is any way to disable the seat belt warning gong. I have disabled the check control warning for this using the BMW Scanner 1.4.0 but can't work out how to disable the audible gong. My father has a medical certificate exempting himfrom wearing a seatbelt and at present we have a spare buckle that we insert in either of the seatbelt anchors but this is a PITA. Any help offered will be welcomed

I know it's probably a silly thought, but why not just plug the original seatbelt in to the catch and then just sit on top of the seatbelt, so no gong

Does not  simply disconnecting the occupancy sensor under the seat not silence it?

Would disconnecting the seat sensor or anything else for that matter mean the airbag would not deploy in a crash?

I believe that is the case.  The other thing to remember is that UK airbags deploy in a different way (more slowly and with less violence) because the system expects a seatbelt with pyrotechnic pre-tensioners to be in use too.

Is he not just better off wearing it still or does it cover an area that can't be?

Imy, that is what I am using at the minute mate but thanks for the suggestion. 535d boy he is okay wearing it for short journeys and so today I tried something out from your earlier post. He put the belt on and then after about a mile or so just undone it and low and behold no warning and as long as you don't turn the engine off it doesn't start bonging again. We tried driving away and not fastening the belt but it didn't seem to want to stop bonging so the other option works for me. Thanks all for your input.
