rear brakes stuck on.

Post by Jamee » Thu Jun 13, 2013 10:47 am

Hi all, over the last 2 days, i have noticed my rear brakes smelling badly after a journey, on closer inspection, they are scolding to touch, and the wheels have tons of dust on them. I think they are stuck on. The car does seem a little more draggy and my mpg has gone right down.
Any thoughts what it could be as i wont have time to take a closer look until at least middle of next week.
Thanks.

Usually happens to me after the Mrs has been driving and has put the handbrake on :)

Was going to suggest the handbrake might be sticking rather than the foot brake.

funny you  say that as the 'check brakes linings' has been on the dash and the handbrake is non existant, i have bought new rear shoes and rear sensor, but has yet to fit.

If the check light is on could you have a sticking caliper? are both rear brakes overheating or just 1?
