54 Reg X5 3.0D (E53 of course)
I am a newbie and would like to see for myself where the battery is. Is it easy to get to in the boot should I need to replace it or should I leave it to experts?
I am not just a newbie on this forum, I am a newbie with cars in general too.
So please be gentle.
regards

Re: Get to the battery
Hello and welcome.
It's not the easiest battery ever, but not too hard for anyone who can use spanners. Empty the boot, remove the spare wheel (there is a strap type contraption to help with this, see the manual). I think your car will have air suspension on the rear so there are 3 nuts or bolts (can't remember which) to remove so you can slide the air suspension pressure vessel (dome like thing) out the way and reach the battery. 10 mins sounds about right once you have the tools to hand.
I did once ask Halfords if there free (or is it £5) fitting service applied to my car and they say yes! Whether you would trust them to do it or not is a different matter!

I wouldn't let a spotty oik from Halfrauds anywhere near my X. Neighbour of mine is a store manager and he's a COCK
