£159 for an oil service?
£159 for an oil service?
Anyone else get a mailing yesterday from BMW with listings for prices of services etc offered at their local dealer?
Is £159 for an oil service at a main dealer a bad price? tbh i don't think its too bad, or is it?
Just what exactly does an oil serice entail, obviously oil and filter change, anything else?

Re: £159 for an oil service?
Considering they charge over £100 just for the oil it seems about right. I thought they also did a 'safety inspection' as they do when changing the wheels between Summer & Winter sets.
Castrol 0w-30 Edge Professional is expensive stuff!! I was offered 6L for the E46 @ £98. It actually needs more than that (6.4L) with a filter change on the 3.0d engine.
I would expect that price to be all in, but it'll no doubt be in the fine print somewhere......

which is exactly what I did - changed the air filter, pollen filter and vortex, and PAS fluid and still spent less than the cost of the BMW service - including the cost of fuel taking the waste oil to the tip.....

I don't think its that bad really, you should get it done, get a whole car safety cheack and a full valet (you do at my local dealer) I totally agree it can be done cheaper as I did with my x5 however bmw will be doing our 318ci when its due as I think that's only £99-£129 (4 cylinder) and the 318ci has full main dealer history with every stamp and every brake fluid etc and with us been the 2nd owner I think it will help hold its value better imo, and with the milage it does were only likely to service it once as we get bored of cars max 2 years

I'm on 55k and I've had a full BMW history, for the sake of few quid more I'll get them to stamp the book (on amber now). But trust them as far as I can throw them, so I'll wait the so-called 90 mins to take it straight out of there!

Re: £159 for an oil service?
Had my Oil service at Fairfield BMW in Leigh on sea at the weekend it worked out £169 all in on the 8 Cylinder engines which I didn't think was too bad considering the cost of Oil. I made them show me the oil they were putting in it too in the workshop and it was Castrol Edge.
They said it's normally £245 but they are allowed to do it for £169 whether this is true or not I am not sure...
