Tyre advice please

Post by Reggie-g » Thu Jun 06, 2013 8:57 am

Guys,

Thinking about swapping my RfTs on my E71 as the ride comfort around town isn't great on 20's.

Looking at Dunlop QuatroMAXX from formula1 which will set me back c.£1k.

This is a well trodden path on other series, but have many done this on E70/71? And if so, is the difference worth a grand?

Have toyed with the idea of swapping the X for a very nice M5 but the steal offered me a price £8k less that what I paid 6 months ago!

Cheers........ Rich

Swapping to non RFT's will improve the ride comfort no end tbh. They will make a huge difference to the overall driving pleasure.

The question though is whether your insurance company will look kindly on it. It's been discussed quite a bit on here as to the way insurance companies are now being towards people changing tyres from RFTs to non RFTs. May want to confirm with your insurance company first just to make sure they are ok with it and if so then to for it in my eyes.

I have moved to non run flats, much better ride and there was no issue with the Insurance Company as they do not see it as a performance enhancement

Thanks. With swiftcover so will give them a call.

Think I'm going for Dunlop quatromaxx as they seem to have the best ratings. 4 corners for just under a grand from formula 1.

Didn't like the XFR. Brutal performance but thought the cabin lacked bmw quality, very poor screen/sat nav arrangement!
