The tips won't be an issue. As for insurance, technically yes you do need to tell them. But highly, highly unlikely an insurance claim would be refused as most wouldn't know they were aftermarket.

I agree and I think the warranty is worded that way, but I can imagine questions being raised if something exhaust or DPF related fails....eg. "I'm sorry Sir, the exhaust has been modified, we can't fix that under warranty, that'll be £1,600 please".

That's my worry, I might save a few hundred quid at this time but it could end up being a costly mistake later especially when I'm going to continue the warranty when it's due to run out as there's more chance of claiming as the car gets older.
