Air con - re-gass or pressure tested?

Post by cooa99 » Wed Jun 05, 2013 10:21 am

Hi,

My Air con gas has been empty and now used in over 2 years.

Do I need to have it tested before it can be filled  with gas again?.

Any recommendation of places to go?

Thanks

Simplest will be somewhere like Halfrauds as they have the kit to re-gas and pressure test - or look for a local to you a/c checking company.  It cost me £50 incl gas a couple of years back on my E53.

If you have got leaks in the compressor you would be looking at a potential big bill.  The gas lubricates the seals so if you have an empty system your seals could be dried out.

£50-60 shud be most to pay for a check-up and re-gas .

Best way to keep seals lubricated is to use a/c all year round . In winter 5 mins every other day
is enuff , that's what I do with mine and I've never had any probs .
