Parking heater remote start- Enabling
Re: Parking heater remote start- Enabling
gareth82,
Sorry I can't confirm yet if it will work for a rain sensor, tried it on mine and I have a "hadware error", so looks like my rain sensor is toast ahhh.
However there is a few options around reset coding etc. so hopefully it will work.
INPA is a good option though as you can be assured it will do what you want.

Thanks for trying mate, I ordered BMW scanner last night so fingers crossed it works (if not there will be a cheap scanner for sale and I will have to go with INPA), the reason I went for BMW scanner over INPA is apparently with INPA you need to be so carefully as you can wreck a car in minutes. Not sure if there is any truth in this but thought BMW scanner might be a safer option and plus its £30 cheaper.
Do your automatic wipers work.
thanks

Thanks for the reply in that case that does sound like a great bit of kit you have then did you need anything else to be able to use it like software etc or did that all come with the scanner for £70 or what ever the price was.
If not i'm well impresed as i paid about £40 for my resler and navcoder and that doesn't do half as much by the sound of it
yeah it came with software ( which i can lend you) if you can use that with ur navcoder?

Re: Parking heater remote start- Enabling
Strange one. I set this up last year, worked a treat.
Came to use it last week, I can hear the module clicking, the LED illuminates, but the heater doesn`t start
Anyone know which fuse supplies the Webasto so I can check that is OK ?, or any other suggestions what could be stopping it from working please ?
Sorry to labour the point but...
I've got a 2004 X5 3.0d with the aux heating menu on the sat nav screen.
As standard does that provide only heat to the engine and not to the interior?
Should I have had a remote with the car?
Does the software t400 have enable the aux heat option to heat the interior?
t400 are you nywhere near Sussex ;-p
When's the next meet?!

Re: Parking heater remote start- Enabling
in reply to the last post, the aux heater heats up the engine coolant and an electric pump; pumps the hot coolant around the engine pipes that include through the heater matrix, the aircon should startup at a high enough temp and fan hot air to defrost the screen and heat the interior. this should operate either by the aux heat function set by the timer on screen or by a remote control. its not necessary to have the remote if you have the timer function of aux heat, although the remote could be handy for times you didnt think to set the timer.

Thanks for the reply fenj66
I only ask because I set the timer recently to test the aux heating and didn't notice the cabin get any warmer. Maybe I didn't leave it running long enough before I started the car. I'll experiment more with the approaching cold weather.
Thanks again,
W.

Re: Parking heater remote start- Enabling
Could it be your battery? is it at full charge? i ask because i have just put mine on and it started up fine (and has been working great no probs)and then noticed through the window that the screen hadn't cleared about 20 mins later
so i went out to the car and the led was still flashing but the webasto had cut off.So i am going to check my battery later when i have time as i was working on the car yesterday and perhaps left the interior light on too long and drained a bit of juice from the battery perhaps!!!
Just a thought as sometimes it is the simple things that give us grief

Re: Parking heater remote start- Enabling
t400, well that is strange, again have you tried putting 12v to pin one of the heater directly.
All alternatively set the timer and see if when it is on that the heater is getting a 12v signal to pin 1.

Re: Parking heater remote start- Enabling
t440 actually x555 has a good point come to think of it mine stopped working when my battery went a bit low.
And another reason mine stopped working was my heater resistor (hedgehog) had packed up, I assume your normal heater in the car is ok and not erratic
Found this about the voltage errors.
5.2.2 Error Lockout due to Low or High Voltage
A low voltage level of 10.5 ± 0.3 V (measured at the wiring
harness input) over a period of 20 seconds will cause an
error lockout with a run-down of 120 seconds.
A high voltage level of 15.5 ± 0.5 V (measured at the
heater) over a period of more than 6 seconds will also
cause an error lockout with a run-down of 120 seconds.
After correction of the malfunction the error lockout is
reset by switching the heater off and on again. In case of
overheating an error lockout reset is achieved by
removing fuse F1, 20A for at least 10 seconds.
The fuse is not blown in case of an overheat condition.

Re: Parking heater remote start- Enabling
Just for you guys who bought a scanner, I've checking the web best price/features and came across this seems like yours are a bit of a bargain.......
Mind they did reduce them to just over half price I see
