Yours should be under a large plastic box under passenger side of car. A right pig to get off with hidden bolts everywhere!

Thanks. Found it.

Your comment is a fair one. This Indy appears to not have done an X5 before.

Thank you all for your help. Got it all done now. Paid £60 for 3 hours labour and supplied parts myself. Alot cheaper them BMW serVice cost.

Changed:

Air filter
Oil filter
Fuel filter
Pollen filter
Oil drained and changed
Brakes bleeded.

And if course all lights reset.

Again thank you all for advice and help.

Peace

Stew

£20 per hour.  :o No wonder he couldn't find the fuel filter.

Does he really work on high end German stuff or anything that comes through the door.

I would normally agree that you get what you pay for but with mechanics it's s different story in my experience! I've been using a guy for 10 years who charges 30 per hour (cash of course) and he is just amazing, he's not greedy, premises not fancy and in a low rent area and I can't speak for his tax situation, but he has fixed every problem I've ever brought him and backs it up with top notch service. I use a few other guys when he's busy who are the same.

At times I've thought I should really use a BMW specialist and tried a few, usually charged 50 plus vat per hour. The last one was absolutely useless and was a so called ex bmw master tech once! And when I say useless I mean totally useless! The ones before were okay but very inflexible and adopted the bmw mentality of replace every thing instead of find the source of the problem and apply an appropriate fix.

i concur, just because a mechanic charges a fortune doesn't necessarily make him any good. and lets face it changing oils and filters is hardly rocket science :peace:

Exactly.  I mine my wife gets her E46 serviced for free by me......but I could charge.  I suspect collecting payment might be a challenge though... :chair:
