New X5 - Pistonheads article

Just in case you had not seen it ...

Have to see it in the flesh as I am not sure the X3 lines work that well on a bigger car.

Not liking the front on view atall , but then I didn't like the e70 at first but that grew on me .

Do like the interior not that much has changed , but see they have went back to a under dash glove box , quite like the current version abid it is a bit small .

Like you say will have to see it in the flesh , but will be a couple of years before I change again  ::)

I don't think going back to an 80's Brown helps it either.

Interior looks more of a minor facelift rather than a new car  :noexpression: the next X6 will likely have it too  >:(

Perhaps the EU spec will get a different front end.  I agree with pvr, too close to an X3 and hasn't scaled up well.

Interior spec will be different on this side of the pond, but we'll have to sit and see until we get a real one to look at.

I had noticed that Nappa leather colours are now becoming restricted (black only now on the X6) and that brown colour does the F15 no favours.

Not liking that much, i think the x5 should stay looking more chunky and not like an x3.

First impressons- I really don't see it as all that special.  They seem to have gone with a 'safe' design.  The front is OKish but the back looks horrible.  :'(

When the E70 first came out I thought it looked really aggressive and had a purposeful stance on the road.  >:D

The new one seems a bit bland.  Hopefully the version with wider arches/ bigger wheels will look a bit better...

If I had the choice I think this time I would go with the new RR Sport. Now that is a good looking car.

What are BMW thinking with that god awful 'Austin Allegro' brown paint....horrid. :shit:

No i dont like it. looks too much like the X3.

However, show me one in Alpine white or black though and i might be swayed.

Lot's of focus on colour talk here - The current E70 on the BMW website is brown too......... It's just a colour.

I like the F25 shape X3 but oddly at this stage I think I prefer the look of the E70 X5 over the 2014 F15 X5.

Irrelevant as not in the market for putting my name down for a new X5.

Nope, still don't like it at all, looks like a X3 when it should be a bit more special.

It's ok but bigger all round than the E70; maybe too big for me next time?

Some nice photos of it in white here:

I think it will grow on me once I see a few MSports in the flesh.  Looks like there's a handy storage compartment under the steering wheel which is a big plus for me :-)
