Few mods done

Post by saicab » Wed May 29, 2013 2:06 pm

Hi i thought id share a few of the mods i have done since buying the X5 two months ago. Thanks to all help and advice on this forum.

1. windows tinted
2. Black grills fitted
3. Iphone input using original stereo
4. 12" JL audio sub and JBL amp
5. Retrimmed M Sport steering wheel
6. And finally some 20" wheels & tyres

Now just waiting for some better weather so i can fully correct and detail the car by machine.

Any comments appreciated as im not sure about the wheels but got them at a good price. :)ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Also re the wheels, not really my cup of tea but I have never been a fan of 5 spokes in the larger sizes. Seems to be too much 'space' in relation to wheel if that makes sense?

looks great would love a set of those wheels in 22's with black centres for mine.

How did you wire the amp? where did you take the feed from for the sound?

Is the amp in the boot wired with RCA's or did you need to get some of them wire to RCA converters?

I tapped into the wires and then used a hi-low convertor to get RCA's

Is the sub secured to the boot floor in any way? I'm going to get all my speakers upgraded but haven't considered adding a sub yet.

Cheers

Hi , no the sub is not secured but is quite heavy so it won't be moving anywhere. I would advise adding a sub first as it makes a lot of difference to the overall sound. I will also recommend the JL audio sub as its one of the best subs I bought. The sub and amp combo cost around £200 from caraudiosecurity.

Nice steering wheel , is it an E53 wheel or a converted E46 ?? Where did you get it done ??

The iPhone input to the stereo , have you used one of these leads that 'opens' up the AUX
output on the 16:9 head unit ??

I've just bought one of these to install this w/e . I wanted smthg that I cud keep radio/cassette
& cd charger all working . At £13 I hope it's a nice cheap option .

OP may correct me but I believe it's an E46 M Sport steering wheel which is a direct replacement on the pre facelift. Currently looking at one myself and Raj gave me details of a guy who will refurbish it and add the thicker leather to it.

Cheers
