I just used one of the eBay kits. It was my level sensors which were faulty so I sold the compressor and air bags on ebay afterwards and that paid for the kit  :D

If you had full air suspension initially and just the fronts were changed to stock spring/shock setup, then how was the vehicle coded out to just show rear? That could be why you keep getting error warnings.

If you are looking to now remove the rear air suspension then all you need is the springs and parts 13, 14 and 15 from HERE

Oh and of course get the X coded out for the error messages. You can get it completely recoded so it thinks it never had air suspension to start with BUT that is a lot of coding work and expensive. I just removed the check control message from the dash.

I know this is an old topic but I've just changed my X5 suspension, front and rear air suspension to coil overs. I've still got the error message to get rid of and a kind chap told me about Raj being bit of a wiz kid with this problem. The question is how do I remove the inactive suspension message from the dash without causing problems with other systems that might be connected ??

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Hi Micky,

Nice move to coilovers. I assume KW's? As for the error messages, have you got the scanner software? If so then its a matter of removing the check control message. Where about's are you?

Welcome by the way.

Hi Raj, thanks for the welcome mate. Didn't get KW's thought they were a bit expencive so got a set off Gerry at Phoenix Motor sport with upgraded rear springs for towing.

I don't posses the scanner software, wouldn't know where to start to be honest with you hense asking on here. I live just south of Derby but willing to travel if I can get it sorted out.

Thanks for the reply.

Ah cool. I'm only in Wolverhampton so not a million miles away so can hook up if you wish. I'll be interested to see how the ride is on the Phoenix springs.

Nice one Raj, would you be able to delete the suspension warning light on my car for me.

I've got a busy week this week but could PM you my number and we can arrange a date and place if you like.

Cheers.

Thought I would up date you guys, the Phoenix Motorsport coil overs are performing really well the ride is slightly harsher than the standard sports suspension was, but I like it, it gives a more sporty feel to the ride and it certainly handles a lot better.

There is another message on the dash though apart from the usual "self level susp inact" ( which Raj has very kindly offered to delite for me when I can get over to his place). I'm getting the low tyre pressure warning light and a "max 35mph" warning on the dash. The independent I use say its because the air bags have been removed, but as I said to them "nothing electrical has been removed only mechanical elements of the system". Has anyone else had these warnings after changing the suspension. The ABS system has been checked and it's all OK. The pump is now obviously disconnected but it has been for weeks now and the warning lights have only been on since the suspension was changed.

Any help would be appreciated as it's driving me mad. :'(

Another quick update, took a trip over to Raj's place on Friday evening so he could scan out the "self level susp inactive" message. Chuffed to bits now, no more air suspension problems. Well pleased with the coil overs.

The "max 35 mph" and tyre pressure warnings turned out to be a wrongly fitted leveling switsh on the O/S/F wheel, which was refitted wrong after changing the suspension.

Thanks to Raj for all your help mate.

Hi,
Is there anyone in Manchester who is able to delete the error message from the dash?
Have changed the rear air bags to springs and now need the message coded out!
Am willing to travel to get this done.
Have looked at the software option but am unable to put the software on my iPad!
Thanks.

I'm in Manchester and have a BMW scanner 1.4.0 but I'm not certain if it
will reset your suspension light,

Hi,
I think you need to stop the message coming up on the dash with it but I don't have a clue how!
Have tried with an obd unit but it won't do it and have been told you need to use the 1.4.0 scanner.
Whereabouts in Manchester are you and how much to use the scanner? :)

I like Malc, are in the Manchester area, I have the scanner and software loaded onto an old laptop, but I bought it for that reason, as the scanner was easier to load on XP, and I couldn't risk putting ot on my works laptop which I use for programming our machines .
Some one posted a how to the other week, it will only work when the key position is in a certain position, when deleting the air suspension check.
You will have to traul the old posts, unless the. Ember who posted it adds to this thread.

Got to be one of the friendliest forums I've ever been on!
Raj has also emailed me offering to help! :)
A crate of beer then if your not willing to take money or I have suspension parts you can have if needed!
I'm based in Bolton. Who's the nearest to me out of the both of you?
