Re: Opinions or possible rear light mod
I think the one on the right suits silver better, although its just a bit too dark for my liking. Get your numberplate straightened up man!
Re: Opinions or possible rear light mod
The right one for me (i.e. only tinting the red part). However, I'm afraid to say, I'm also with many of the others here I wouldn't go for completley black, more of a subtle tint / darkening would look classier.
Re: Opinions or possible rear light mod
Well took the plunge today took my lights out last night and masked them up and prepped the surface to be sprayed then this morning in my tea break I tinted them out.
Prepped, cleaned and tac ragged:
Mixed the paint 200g clear 20g black and 110g hardener:
One coat:
2 coats (2nd fairly heavy):
Controversial part probably a bit dark for some people, not as dark as my A4 but wanted to match the window tints and bumper lowers:
Lights on:
Bring on the flaming..... :razz1: )

Your car, your choice - no flames (that's what moddings all about) BUT.....
2nd light coat would've worked for me - no need to colour code to the bumpers. My opinion of course, but well done for sticking to your guns!

Thanks,
It's not so much to match the bumper but I like the look of black on silver
Previous black on silver motors Ive done in the last 2 years:
Think Im a bit addicted to it.........
Anyway I thinking I might satin black the X5 badge along with the front bonnet grills or maybe de-badge not decided yet

Beware:
Section 1.5 of the current (2012) MOT states your rear reflectors MUST be red in colour. Looking as those lights you either need to get the tint off them again, or fit another set of reflectors (not tape as that's also a fail) to meet the statutory requirement for two red reflectors.
The current MOT Testers Handbook says Reason for Rejection: Not red in colour.
Around here, Bedfordshire Police have been issuing prohibition notices to cars without red reflectors as tinting them too dark is a fail. Drivers have been getting fined and if the mod isn't declared to the insurer they may also be uninsured and lose the car.
I'm not saying you will get trouble as a bright light shone on the lights may give enough 'red' light back from them, but it might be worth checking with a local MOT station. You certainly need to tell your insurer though, as they are using every possible excuse to walk away now.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Thanks for the heads up,
My local MOT test station is my work (im a mechanic) and my tester friend (who is a stickler for the rules and regs) had me do his lights not long ago as the reflector still reflects well even with my naff led light on my camra phone:
Also the 540 in the pics above I was pulled over in (just a check as to what I was doing out at 3am) and after a quick inspection he happily let me on my way.
With car lights shining on them they reflect really well.

Once you start the grass doesn't get much time to grow does it.
While I have never changed the exterior of any of my cars as Sanj says your car your choice, I think what you have done looks really good on a silver car just needs one of the DB9 style number plates now.
Keep up the great work

Im with Sanj, I like the look with the second coat, but each to their own and it looks like you have done a good job there! No tights over the lights job here!
