Greetings pop-pickers!

Post by benobi » Wed May 08, 2013 8:22 pm

Howdy all

Have been thinking about getting an X5 xdrive40d M-sport, as the missus is expecting our first-born and the 2003 325Ci coupe is not particularly baby-friendly...  ::)

Stumbled across this forum by chance and looks the nuts - just what the doctor ordered! Hoping to get lots of useful advice along the way.

I've just put a test drive deposit down with an AUC Knights Stafford - any views on this dealer? Gonna do the trek from London, ouch!

Cheers

Ben

Welcome to the Forum......

The 40d will surprise you by just how quick it is.  You may have disagreements over who gets the car keys..... :(

As a new owner of a 40d I'm sure you'll be impressed, superb in all aspects, I love mine  :)

Mine is an AUC but I saw many poor examples at dealers before finding mine so check it over properly, if you get a good one you'll never look back.

Thanks everybody!

Barney, I saw one of your posts with interest before I joined the forum. Lovely example, yours, in that grey. You made an interesting comment about poor examples at AUC dealers - I didn't think an official AUC dealer would be allowed to sell bad examples?

The one I'm looking at is a Sept 2012 model with 3,200 miles on the clock. I thought that's pretty awesome. Still under the original 3 year warranty. Titanium Silver. What do you think?

Am i allowed to post the offer price up here on this forum, or would that be breaking rules? I'm keen to see whether it's a worthy deal and whether I can squeeze any more out of the dealer... he sounded quite civil so don't want to take the piss.

Welcome to the forum!

Posting offer price not an issue on this forum, others may be able to help. And never think a dealer being civil shouldn't mean you haggle damn hard, he's not the one who's paying with their hard earned! Hammer them down as much as you can, even if it sounds like you're taking the complete piss - do it with manners of course!  ;)

Very best of luck with the test drive. :ok:

Thanks for the comments on mine, as I said it's better than I hoped, performance wise they are great and I own another car with supercar performance that I've had for 12 yrs so I'm well qualified to judge on power.

Can't see an issue with posting the money side of things if you want to, gives people the chance let you know if it sounds a good deal, having said that you need to give the full spec as it's relevant to cost.

Six months old and low miles, shouldn't have a problem but don't let your guard down and take your time looking over it. The plus point is that AUC's have HPI checks / Certs, a brilliant warranty so the main thing is to establish how well it's been looked after and the bodywork condition and alloys should be near perfect with that age of car.
Look at the corners of the bodywork, almost all I saw had rubbish repairs to these areas despite the X5 having so many parking aids  :(
