Opinions or possible rear light mod **** NOW DONE****
Opinions or possible rear light mod **** NOW DONE****
I like the look of the rear lights tinted out not everyone's cup of tea I'm sure, I've carried this mod out a few times and I do it by a process of adding a small amount of standard black to standard car lacquer at a rate of 10 parts lacquer to 1 part black and then sprayed in a booth with spray equipment like spraying and car panel that way the finish is top quality just like a normal car panel high gloss and also it remains very translucent.
Here's some pics from when I carried out this mod to my A4
One coat:
Three coats:
Back on the motor straight from the gun finish no polishing:
Showing the lights on in daylight showing they still illuminated well:
Now for the X I haven't made my mind up as to how Im going to do it either whole light less the reverse light or only the red part, if done like this I'll replace the orange indicator bulb with a silver one,
Opinions wanted?

Re: Opinions or possible rear light mod
I don't mind tinted lights just not completely blacked out - hell even BMW do their own and call em Darklines.
I think the colour of the car is also important - otherwise they look like something a 17 year old put on his Saxo.
Thiswas what I had done recently to my wife's saxo.

.......and don't over tint them either as that is also now in the MOT (more and more seems to be getting dropped into that little test!) so if not bright enough you may have to clean them. Light level must be at least 50% of untinted light unit. Someone on here had a special film which looks like a tint but is actually a fine mesh but which still meets the lighting output regs.
And definitely avoid dark tinting the 'reflector' section as that may attract unwanted attention as the reflector bit has to be clearly visible and still work as designed - and must be red in colour

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Nice.
I like the idea of tinting them to tie the back together if you know what i mean, as i like the all black and silver look by loosing the red

If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....

I don't assume to know everything, and know there is a lot I don't know..
But then I could be talking bollox.. O:-)

Re: Opinions or possible rear light mod
I like the light tinted look and previously had mine lamin-x'ed. As long as you don't go too dark it'll look good.
