Anyone near Christchurch with scanner 1.4.0 ?

Hi folks. We're on holiday in Christchurch, Dorset. The engine light has come on and I'd like to know what's going on. I have my laptop with me that has scanner 1.4.0 installed and working but I didn't think to bring the obd interface cable. Can anyone help please?

Anything showing up on the 'Check Control' function on the dash?

Well it's actually my e46 330ci with the engine light on and I don't think the check control is as accommodating as the e53 check control is.
