I've always fancied a go in an ST but never done it
Of the two I would also prefer the vw for the engine )basically same as our tt) and the 4 wheel drive which really does mean you can boot it out of wet corners

Jas, firstly, top man for selling the 'X' and hope you got a fair price. Bank transfer has to be the way to go as others have said and it sounds like your bank will help confirm all is well, just make sure you don't let the car go before it is cleared and get the all clear from your bank.

As for the purchase of the new VW, well done not what I would have choosen, Astra VXR for me any day, but the R32 would be a close 2nd. Good luck mate and look forward to the pics

Well payment has just been made via chaps so should be showing in my account before 5.30 as he just met the cut off point.
I have read that chaps payments can possibly be reversed if done before close of business on the same day as payment is made so i will ring tomorrow to check that it is still there and then get it transferred into another account i have but it would appear at least that all is above board :yeah:

The transfer won't help you though as it it was fraud, you would still responsible for coughing up.

So when is the Golf due?

As far as the transfer goes I guess i will have to keep my fingers crossed. The bank and 2 dealers I have spoken to all advised bank transfer as the safest way so I guess I have done the best I can under the circumstances. As far as fraud goes I suppose that could be argued whichever way I had accepted payment.
As for the car being exported I must admit that it did set alarm bells ringing but both of the dealers I spoke to had also sold vehicles lately in similar circumstances and surely if he had anything to hide then why bother telling me, the dealer that I am buying the golf from told me he sold an x5 for export to Kenya 3 weeks ago, my buyer also told me that he has an appt to view another x in Manchester on Thursday again for export so they must shift a fair few.

Well I am now the owner of an r32.
Definitely going to be a love and hate thing, love the exhaust sound but do find myself thinking shut up at times, love the gearbox but also missing the auto and keep trying to put it in gear without the clutch and keep forgetting the handbrake and trying to start it in gear as it is the first manual I have driven in over 2 years.
It is best described as a go cart with a nest of angry wasps under the bonnet, although it is great fun it is way to small in all honesty. Will get some pics once.the weather cheers up a bit.
