I've got a small hole in my heated seat covering where the heating element seems to have burnt through. I believe it's a common enough occurance ... happens on that spot on the seat where you would place most of your weight when getting out of the car. The heating element still works by the way, albeit with a very hot patch that'll burn the butt off you where the hole is.
Anyway I've been told there's nothing for this but a new leather seat cover with a new heating element in it. They're well over €600 though and I'd hate to have to pay that.
It's easily possible to have someone repair the hole in the leather for €50. But the heating element .... would it not just be a case of re-pack the material around where the hole is and it should be ok ? I mean, I haven't taken the leather covering off to examine the element, so I don't know if the element is actually damaged.
Anyone got any experience on this ?
