Yes as soon as you said 50d you know you'd be pulling my tail lol. Range was more the point as I can get down to Essex on 20mpg without refuelling. Performance wise I embarrass many petrol thumpers.

My new one only has a small tank so the range is only 200-220 miles which is a right PITA

An X6M will of course have a much bigger tank

The one I looked at in 2010 was a 6-speed M-Sport Steptronic auto, and according to BMW it still is on the MY2013 version.

I enjoyed reading the Petrol Vs Diesel debate & I think if I was in the market for the M50d or X5M I would have to take both out to compare & I am a die hard V8 fan but the triple turbo set up fascinates me...but I adored the sound my old 4.8iS made, it's an interesting conundrum.  :)

You know if they do one it is more likely to have the turbo V 8 in over a v10/12

The problem is that the triple is too effortless it doesn't give the thrill

It's a fair point & I am sure the X5M isn't left wanting for low down urge with two turbos anyway  8)

Yes but low range urge followed through with a red line in the right place.
