Why you should fix punctures quickly.

Post by jeegnesh » Tue Apr 23, 2013 11:11 am

So my rear tyre had a slow puncture needed to fill it up every 2-3 weeks, that gap reduced overtime and sometimes I ran low because I forgot to fill it up.

Monday noticed it lost loads of pressure even though I filled up on Sunday, took to my local to fix the puncture. When he took the tyre off the inside track had huge slits in it, the tyre was falling apart.

Luckily I had a new set of rears ready and waiting.

But FairPlay to the Toyo's done 44k on them and rears still had 3mm left although the inside track was bare. Can't ask for much more.

Good move mate, better to have it done.

I saved Sanj's life he owe's me bigtime, sure the tyre would have exploded on the M5 on Saturday.  O:-)

The wear indicates incorrect inflation and/or tracking problems - have you had the tracking checked so you dont wear out another tyre?

To be fair those tyres and 3.5 years and 44k so if I get that out of the next set I'm not gonna complain.

But your right its from under inflation due to puncture and me not always filling it up on time during that period.

that's not bad at all - I once got 65k out of a set of rears on a GolF 150bhp 1.9Tdi - I was well impressed

That's impressive. Someone needs to give this info to Pirelli F1 manufacturer
