Which BMW dealer deal's on NEW cars?

Probably 1,200 miles of not exceeding 3,000 rpm, no use of lead throttle and avoid kick down (for auto cars), then you're off......steady increase of rpm over the next several hundred miles. I think the X6 also said not to exceed 100mph!! Obviously written for the autobahn brigade.
If I may, I would suggest an oil and filter change at 1,200 miles too. A bit old school I know, but it's better than having swarf etc on the loose in the engine for 20,000 miles!
All our BMWs have had that done, as have all my other cars from new - or even after I've bought them second hand.

Build the revs up and give occasional blast (not redline) from about 600-700 miles other wise the engine won't get to be in properly if you are too nancy with it.

Then drive it in sport or manual so it doesn't labour the engine too much too

You mean the normal drive will take rev's up gently and slow change? Hence manual or sport?
It got paddle shifters, so I can use Sport Mode and shift the gears myself if that helps.

It will try and go in economy mode and dump it in the highest gear possible which again is not that helpful when running in

ok so paddle shift, change up at 3,000rpm for first 1,200 miles with some blasts after 600 miles, sound right?
So technical

[/quote]
I would say build up so say at 800 miles go to 3.5k, 1000 to 4k and then crack on at 1200

Good point
Anyway that car is all about mid range shove anyway so you'll be driving off the torque not the power anyway.
You'll probably find you'll be disappointed when you get to floor it first time because it won't give much more anyway !!
Never driven one but did quite enjoy the 120d I had as a loaner for a while. Would have like to have tried a 123

Agreed it is mid range shove mainly, and your right about when I put my foot down and don't hear that Boxster noise or built up to the red line which takes a little time, I will prob feel ::) plus will be that the mid range shove will be far more usable, and I get to enjoy all those toys in the car.
