Post by cooa99 » Mon Apr 22, 2013 2:10 pm

Hi,

I was wondering where I can get front and rear mud flaps for my 55 plate x with running boards?

I also need titanium kidney grills for the front ...

or do i just have to pay dealer price!

cheers

Fitted flaps you are better off getting BMW dealer ones as they are quite substantial. Grilles well eBay is full of them! Make sure you get ones in 3 (I think) parts as that's front bars and rear rubbers as well. One piece ones are just shit

If you're talking about the front kidney grills, they come as two pieces (the outer chrome bit and the inner slats themselves). They two pieces mount surrounds from the front and slats from the back to come together and clip into place forming a sandwich on the bonnet.

Grab em off eBay and paint them yourself.

Mud guards would probably be dealer too (unless lucky on eBay).

Do you mean grab original black ones from ebay and then paint them? or aftermarket ones.

Where can I get the paint from ?

cheers

I have titanium grilles off my new X6 which were taken off on delivery and replaced with BMW Performance ones.  Wonder if they would fit?

I have a set of titanium grill off of my 52 reg 4.6is. Not sure if it would fit to a facelift though. Pm me if interested. I am leaving tomorrow once again for a little bit for more training but can have it shipped by a friend if needed to.

OP - what car do you have? Year and model?

If E53 pre-facelift will not fit facelift. And yes, get some off eBay and pain them. Doesn't matter what you use, any silver or even titanium silver from Halfords for the BMW range will work. No body can tell the difference.

Key/scotch the grills, good base coat and then silver finish. Leave without lacquer if you want matt (like OEM) or a coat of lacquer if you want the gloss finish.
