Seat stitching help!

Post by X Box » Sun Apr 21, 2013 8:50 pm

My E70 ownership has been rather smooth since the deal / collection of it in mid - Jan.

Sadly I've spotted an issue! On the drivers seat base, where it meets the seat base bolster, there are a few stitches coming undone. Must be about an inch at most.

I am taking a shot that this is not something covered by AUC warranty.

Anyone had this happen? If so, how much for the repair? I am guessing it's a full seat out job, etc.

Gutted tbh. I can tell that this wasn't just 'us' but must have happened before as it looks as if someone has trimmed the thread before when it started to unstitch.

I had a leather panel replaced on a previous 3 series. It only cost about £100, so stitching should be simple. Google upholsterers in your area.

 that was a good price - years ago when I had my 330ci clubsport, the rear bench had a fold on it which was stitched. It came unpicked slightly and I was charged £120 to fix it! That was an easy 'pull the bench out and leave it' job too!

Why not?  It's hardly fair wear and tear.  Take it back to the dealer - can't begin to imagine they could defend that and even it there were grounds for dispute, the cost is so small I would expect them to deal with it for goodwill.  Good luck

Sadly, after being excellent before with sale and warranty stuff the dealer let themselves down with no response to my email or phone call.

Dealer did at least return my call today.

Wasn't warranty covered but will make sure I get a good deal next service for my hassle.
