Anyone got a Sliding floor they want to sell?

James is there not a friend or local chap that can do it for you if you're not good with tools.

If you can't get hold of the floor in time just get the bigger tank fitted and leave the floor out till you can either get hold of one or DIY one. Tbh rather than adding bits of wood to your existing floor, cut a new one out of 18mm mdf to the extra width too. The sliding floor (and your original on stilts) will leave a gap round the edge anyway so a god opportunity to build your own custom floor to the exact fit and raised. Cover it in matching carpet and job done. I've built false floors before for ice installs and always look far better.

The small gaps either side of the sliding floor are just enough to allow the covers to come out to access cd changer/sub. You don't want to fill those spaces with higher floor unless you are prepared to remove the floor to access those cubbies

Already thought of that and would make a small cutout (equal both sides) to allow the covers to come out but allow the rest to sit flush...

Lol. My LPG conversion is being done next week but might make a quick call and ask what size tank they are fitting. I might do the false floor idea on mine too hmmmmm

I'm not sure theres a real benefit to the extra large tank for me as rarely do anythign long distance and if did, I would make sure I knew where I could get gas on the way and not rely on the extra 14l to get me home! I don't get gas when i'm empty, I get gas when i'm passing the LPG place I use.

I have a 90-something litre tank but it only holds 85l. I had an 80-something litre tank on the last one with normal boot floor, obviously that held about 75l.

Just as a matter of interest I have a 95litre Stako tank fitted to my car and have the original sliding floor with no mods to it.

Isn't it slightly better to have the normal floor with the 85 litre tank as the extra weight of the fuel/larger tank/extra weight from the sliding floor (inc mechanism) going to just make it less economical anyway? Just a thought mind as I know the extra weight is probably only marginal anyway.

One other question I do have please is what would be the realistic extra range for the extra 10litres of LPG?

You won't need mods with the sliding floor, thats why so many are thinking of retrofitting it - as it allows the larger tanks in.

Compared to the weight of the X in the first place, not sure we'd see real benefits by losing a few KG with smaller tanks/less fuel etc 

The extra 10l would be worth 25 miles to me if i'm around town, and I guess around 35-40 on a run imagine. Thinking about it, I can see how, if you were on a Mway cruising and came to the bottom of your tank, 10l could be a massive help because once you are cruising anyway and engine warm etc, that 10l could give you 40 miles + if driven sensibly on the Mway....

Maybe my earlier statement was a bit premature - the difference *may* make a difference in those circumstances.

25-40 miles isn't worth the extra cost of buying the sliding floor and bigger tank etc in the first place.

The sliding floors are so rare they will be hugely expensive me thinks to buy even second hand.

All 5 of the LPG petrol stations around me have "issues with their pipes" which has meant I have been running on petrol... i forgot how depressingly expensive it is!

Good point.the cost! I hadn't considered that as mine was already fitted.
