Insurance time again. Anyone heard of e-Choice?

Post by jeegnesh » Thu Mar 21, 2013 11:49 am

So been with Admiral multi-car policy for a few years and they keep hiking the price on me.

I used gocompare and found e-Choice https://www.echoice.com/home I can insure both cars with the same level of cover for half the price, yeah half the price.  Which I like the idea off but wanted to know if anyone has used or heard of this insurer?

They claim:

RSA echoice is brought to you by the makers of MORE TH>N - RSA (formerly known as Royal & Sun Alliance) a FTSE 100 listed company who have been insurance experts in the UK since 1710.

RSA echoice car insurance is provided and underwritten by Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance plc, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (Reg No. 202323)

Looks like "poverty spec" insurance to me with the option to add things that would normally be included i.e. windscreen cover.

I would check very carefully that extras are included. With Admiral they are not even though you have to declare them although I think you can pay extra premium to cover them.

Read all the small print carefully and then make an informed choice for the money.

I've just renewed our X5 with Admiral. They'd gone up nearly £100 from last year but came back down £75 when confronted with competitive quotes of almost £100 less. For £20 it wasn't worth changing so stuck with them.

Not impressed with their multi car. Once they've got 3 or 4 cars on cover it's then a pain to unravel everything when they wack the price up.

Also, I've never known 1 insurance company that is cheap for all types of car. We had the Defender with Sureterm for just over £200. Similar policy for the X5 would have been £1200. Considering other companies are quoting £300 and change for the X you'll see what I mean.

I added to make it like for like policy.  However I just found this: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/sho ... ?t=2937142

So crap customer service, I found other companies priced pretty close so guess I am better off going with one of them.

I pay £402 with £150 excess for the X5 with Chris Knott. I'm 36, wife is 32, tried A plan and Adrian Flux but they couldnt beat it. Would never go with more than again as like its been said, they are a  budget insurer who give cheap price, but it bumps right up when things like legal cover, protected no claims, etc are added.

Eek!

Undoubtedly affected by:

- age
- claims record
- driving offences record
- area
- etc etc

Kudos to you for buying the car you want at your age. However, I can't see how you think it would be much cheaper given your age etc.
Driving without insurance - no excuse whatsoever. If it can't be afforded, then don't drive or get something cheaper. Drivers without insurance should be banned for a very lengthy period of time.

Completely agree.  >:D so many people think its acceptable to drive without ins. Probably one of the biggest issues on the road.
