Anyone tried this £80 digital freeview box?

Post by PhilUK » Tue Apr 16, 2013 4:18 pm

Feeling the need for TV in the car and was looking for a good box for under £100, if one exists.

Found these on ebay and wondered if anyone had fitted one to their X?

I'm sure they work fine when stationary but don't want all the hassle to find the reception is useless whilst on the move.

Any other recommendations greatly received  ;)

I cant speak for that DVB box but I have just sold my Merc CLS which had the OEM system the TV reception was fine stationary and not bad up to about 30/40mph (rear screens only of course) but above that I think the technical term is *rap.
In the X5 I have a Hualigan system which gives almost identical performance the radio does give better reception but again no where near good enough on the move. I guess the Digital signal network is not robust or reliable enough yet.
I don't know if that helps or not?

Seems to be the same with the DAB radio in my E70 as well. Can't use it when driving as the signal drops out every mile or so and switches back to FM.

Thanks guys.

I know a digital signal on the move is notoriously hit and miss which is apparently dependant on the equipment rather than the available signal as there are some reports of a near perfect signal at all speeds.

I might just take a chance with this £80 unit and see how I get on. It may all be down to the positioning of the aerials.

A 40' antenna or a satelite dish on the roof may spoil the lines of the X5 though
