X-Pipe is on......

Had the X-Pipe put on yesterday. Not had a chance to record any clips yet. Seems to sound a bit louder and not intrusive at all which is what i wanted. Just a nice sportier sound when accelerating.

Whats the benefits - any impact on mpg/power delivery?

A bit more of that V8 noise when pushing on is always nice.

I personally havent driven my car yet, my friend is borrowing it, i did however sit in it yesterday, i noticed the sound difference straight away.

High-Flow X-PIPE

WHY USE A High-Flow X-PIPE?

For any performance exhaust system, some type of crossover connecting the two sides of a dual exhaust system is important because it acts to balance the two banks of the engine. The common H-style crossover is good at balancing sound pulses between the two halves, but does little to promote scavenging because the exhaust gases tend to follow the path of least resistance, which is straight through each pipe rather than taking the 90-degree turn through the H-pipe into the other half of the system. In an X-pipe system, however, where the two sides of the system intersect, the gasses have no choice but to intermingle as they pass through the junction. This promotes improved scavenging effects by smoothing out uneven exhaust pulses from the engine's firing order. It also helps quieten the exhaust, resulting in a mellower, less raspy tone. The faster acceleration of the gasses through an X-pipe causes them to flow in a linear fashion parallel to the walls of the tubing rather than tumbling. This "laminar" flowing gas is much quieter than tumbling gas, resulting in an exhaust tone up to 8 decibels quieter than a traditional H-pipe.

I can see the logic behind the X-pipe as an H always seemed a bit of a cheap alternative.

Look forward to hearing the difference, but I doubt you made a before recording

Its a profusion 2.5" X-Pipe. Had to use some 2.5" Straight pipe too. Cost around £45 for the X-Pipe, £10 for a metre of 2.5" stainless pipe, and £85 for welding (8 welds) plus the cost of some reducers.

Looks really good! I'd like to upgrade the exhaust at sone point...will defo consider this.
