so i finally phoned about the car in question today as m3 hunting is going poor, im just after a cab 3 series, so i thaught id have to phone about the 320d i liked on bmw website, its been on since october so made a 3k off offer over the phone, he replied some bull about having nearly sold it today so id have to offer the full price, i said ok sell it to them then ended up on the phone another 15 mins (thaught it was sold) anyway he wouldnt know 1p off the £16,500 price despit on a 09 plate its done 93k which all of a sudden is fine when selling it!! he said hes sold it once in jan and bought it back in march, this is bull as the milage is the same as last year, also i pointed out that other cars are available from bmw with half the milage at 15k, i was only liking the white colour and gunsmoke wheels, so im getting knowwhere with cars. the salesman seemed genuinly full of shite, so i wonder if they will phone back, i only offered 13 to try and buy for 14-15k so hes lost a sale there, i also pointed out if he had genuinely sold it for 2 months its another owner therefor whys the price dropped £300?

So if he did by it back, the question is why?  What's wrong with it?  It might be a line, but if it isn't.........run away!

Sometimes you can talk too much about buying a new car. You end up talking yourself in and out of it. You've wanted an M3 and I guess if you get something lessor you'll soon be thinking what if  ::)

Stop messing around and go and look at the 'M' they all had plenty of owners, goes with the territory. Don't forget these 10 years ago were selling at over list up to a year old, cheap motoring if you had the money up front  8) can't remember if hip shows owner changes but worth a check.

im just too eager ive sold the x5 and the e30, have no car and i cant go look at the m3 as the documents arnt back from the plate change and im not doing the epic trip twice lol, i know what you mean about taking myself in and out of cars!  there is a perfect comprimise, in my range as well but im not i repeat not handing over £500 per year to the government to waste on crap, that would be the 335i manual, i get the newness of the 3 series and the performace of the e46 m3, some of the coupes scrape low tax but the convertible is into the £500 bracket by 1g per km (silly bmw)

I'm struggling with my latest AUC find, up at £36000 and I offered £33000, they said a straight no. The best I've got it to at the moment is £34750 over the phone!
It's a very low mileage example which makes it hard to barter down, I'll go for extra warranty or Iphone cradle/Road Tax next as the buggers don't seem to want to budge on price anymore :(

BMW dealers are tight as anything, PX is minimal and they seem shocked when you make then a fair offer  :)

That's not a very good offer. Unless they are also giving you a very good trade in. I would let them know that at this time the offer isn't anywhere near where it needs to be to move forward and let then know you are looking else where. Again, this hardball approach will only work if you are prepared to walk away. If not then the dealership will win.

I know, the X5 is at a reasonable dealer price to start with, several hundred miles away so I'm trying to crack a deal prior to travelling to see it. They are playing hard ball, I've also gone in hard and am experienced with getting good deals but it's stalemate on this one :(
It's the spec, colour etc. that I want, with very low miles so it's a case of if I leave it will anything similar come up soon? Probably a grand or more than I want to pay but having seen many poor examples before now do I take the plunge and go for it??

Recently I was looking at three year old 30d MSport around the £32-34 mark, but went for a pre-registered car in early £40k's.  Brand new car no-one else has abused, recent build date so hasn't been sitting in a field for ages, new tyres, full warranty, five yrs or 50k miles servicing included for another £495 I think.  I thought it was a no brainer.

Shad. M3 all the way man. Compromise. If your at a point where your looking at 320D then maybe forget about getting an estoril blue m3 with this and that. There are plenty of M3's on the market! Just be prepared to forgo certain criterias you had originally set out. Or by a banger to keep you going until you find the "perfect" M.
