Roof bars/rails

Does anybody know if standard roof rails fit the E53 bars? Ie standard clamps or specialist ones.

If anybody has any for sale I'd be interested.

Incidentally I have a set of genuine BMW E39 roof rails for sale if anyone is interested?

I use the Thule 862 Aero bars (135cm) and 757 foot pack on my e53. Changed to the e60 and had to get the shorter 861 Aero bars. The 757 foot pack works on both vehicles and guess would also work on a e39 touring.

I bought a set of aero bars off Ebay for about 40 quid and they r perfect. I had to get them exchanged as the first pair they sent were too short but the seller gladly exchanged them for free.

Gimme a day or two as I can't link to eBay from my ipad so need to get on the mac when I get home but if you just search for aluminium roof bars for X5 E53 it's bring them up for about 47 quid, I think Towequipe are doing them. They are great bars, do the job perfect for a fraction of the cost of Thule. Only thing I had to do was get a set of long Allen keys as the supplied one was too short to clear the top of the door so would take ages to tighten them up. A T-bar one would be best but it was over 30 quid for a set or 5 quid for just a set of long ball-end Allen keys from B&Q!
