Parking heater remote start- Enabling
Re: Parking heater remote start- Enabling
Tried just applying 12v to pin 1 works ok, maybe the recode to enable parking heater helps if others where they just apply the 12v doesn't work.
Anyway after looking at all the remote control options what I would really like to do is try and make a press combination on the BMW enable/disable the parking heater.
I have seen the one touch modules for softtop opening, that if you press the lock button on the key three times in 5 sec, the module opens the roof etc.
It must be possible to get / make something that can read this combination and lock a relay. I assume it must be a ibus signal that can be read.
Anyone got one of these, good with PIC chips and the ibus?

Re: Parking heater remote start- Enabling
As an aside, does anyone know if the newer diesel vehicles have these units, or do they now only come if you select auxiliary heating from the options list? There certainly isn't any sign of one under the hood of the E71, although it may have been relocated elsewhere. It was too wet this evening to go looking under a car on the Dealer's forecourt and see if the telltale mini exhaust was present.
The only one in the dry was an X6 M demonstrator - and I think being petrol engined it won't have one.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

I am not an authority but was speaking with cartronics recently who confirmed that diesel vehicles do have fitted.

Re: Parking heater remote start- Enabling
Haven't seen one under the bonnet of my (canadian) E70 but then I've probably lifted the bonnet three times in 9 months. Maybe I'll venture under there again at the weekend - it's getting a bit parky in the mornings now - like those heated seats and steering wheel! Only problem is that it's leased and they may not like it being modded...

help needed - newbie to the forum
Questions
on the dash , will "Auxiliary Heating" be selectable?
If you do the maplin remote option, does that need any coding?

Re: Parking heater remote start- Enabling
t400, yep you will see an aux heating option under the where you set the timers. I recoded mine with BMWScanner 1.4 and it worked for me. As for the remote option I suggest you try the 12v power to pin 1 of the heater as described above, if that works then the remote option will work for you.

Re: Parking heater remote start- Enabling
I bought one off ebay for about £70, has allowed me to a range of things to my X5 that I wanted like enable parking heater, have the alarm make a noise when activating / deactivating, auto lock my doors after getting to 20mph, and loads more
Happy to have a go at activating it for you, but I live near Blackpool UK.

Do you have a link for this tool mcc05 as i would like to take off the alarm beep when unlocking the car.I was going to get Jason to do it at the last meet but ended up not taking the car
As for the parking heater ....can you now programme it to send hot air into the cabin area or has it just displayed aux heating on the obc???
