Cleaning the E53

Surely the process of wiping the product with a cheap sponge just drags the dirt across the paint scratching it?
I do the whole jet wash off, snow foam, leave for 10 mins, rinse with jet wash, 2bm wash, rinse with jet wash, sheet off using DI, pat dry using micro-fibre towel thing.

You know, that's exactly what everyone thinks - I had trouble getting my head around it. Basically, the formulation encapsulates the dirt, a cheap grout sponge with all its holes is apparently a great way of ensuring the muck picked off isn't on the surface. Or something.
All I know is that it works and very well too. Lots of very established members on DW swear by it. Some very good threads there and also some videos. As I said, totally and madly counterintuitive but it works!

Re: Cleaning the E53
I do pre-soak mine before the main wash. There is scope to get it wrong but if you follow a few steps, it's really easy.
If you haven't already, read threads/guides on DW by lowiepete and bigpikle. Invaluable.

I wouldn't even dream of the other half even attempting to clean my motor. I'd rather give it to the £3 car wash places.....

Re: Cleaning the E53
Well the weather is warmer and I was intrigued by this no wash stuff, looked at the videos on U-tube and decided to try it.
Our local Garden Centre had a display of the stuff so I came home clutching a spray bottle of Showroom Shine and a box of the Micro Fibre cloths.
Then I chickened out, rubbing dirt into the paint work just doesn't compute mentally so I set too with buckets and gave the car a good wash and leather off then left it to dry completely.
Then I tried the Showroom Shine all I can say is WOW, spray the stuff on then wipe off with the cloth the amount of dirt it still took off was amazing just years of built up crud I guess. No hard rubbing just a light polish over then buff with a second clean cloth, the second cloth stayed clean. No hard rubbing no smears or marks on the black trim or glass I am really impressed.
I don't know if I would ever be brave enough to use it on a dirty car (second thoughts if one of the kids visits) but certainly after washing easiest polish I have ever used. Next clean I will take pictures of the car and cloths before and after I got carried away this (old bloke brain fade)
