New 2014 X5

Post by IvanG » Mon Apr 01, 2013 5:18 pm

I came across this article on a US website about the new X5, hopefully to be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September

http://www.bmwblog.com/2013/02/28/new-2014-bmw-x5-ordering-guides/

I know much of it won't apply to the UK, but I think it makes interesting reading...

Wonder if the M Sport will be released as the same time.  It was SE only last time wasn't it?

Yup

I would say the E70 is the first BMW that it wasn't essential it was an Msport, particularly when they offered dynamic pack option

All other models, even now, need to be an M sport.

Not for me thanks.

I saw this 2 months ago. Sorry but I think its horrible. Its like a large X1 or X3. Don't like it at all, which is why I have gone for an E70.

Just my 2 pence worth.

Regards,

Nat

I do not like the X3-max look at all. Front is ok but rear is hideous.

Good point  - No need for me to reserve judgement on the 2014 X5, nowhere near as aggresive style wise as the E70.  Looks awful.

I dont belive its gonna look like this. If they dont change it i will keep my e70individual or buy 640d individual with white braon interior.

I didn't like the new model at first, but I think it grows on you. However, there's always the new Range Rover Sport to consider:

extreme designs can grow on you.. like the original 6 series. then there are others that look outright beautiful. like the current 6 series.

this seems like the E70 X5 with an X3 bodykit. naah... not this time.

Anything Land Rover = unreliable overpriced turd IMHO. I hate them. Bloody awful and shocking quality. + massive overkill. Its like having a washing machine with 148 wash programes when all you really need is 6. Even the most basic R/Rover starts at £71 K. The Evoke looks like a squashed freelander and the RR sport is for people who cannot afford a real RR. Strong opinions I know. Do they use R/Rovers anywhere in the world that matters ? Absolutely not. They don't use them in the desert, africa or the arctic. In fact anywhere where if your car breaks down you die, you wont find a land rover product. Don't fall for the massive marketing/advertising campaign. Best 4x4xfar ? what utter bollocks. There is a reason the UN buy 12,000 Land Cruisers every year. + look at any country where there is a revolution/war.....all the insurgents use Toyotas/ Land Cruisers. If its good enough for them, its bloody well good enough for me.
Land Rover products = throw your money down toilet and make sure you have extended warranty/rac/AA and another car to drive when yours is in the garage.
I have gone X5 myself because of price, but If I needed a money no object 4X4 , there is No question in my mind, it would be a Land Cruiser V8 ...............have tested one and if it wasn't for the fact I got an X5 £10 k cheaper its what I would have bought.

Good luck, but I think you will hate it.

Regards

Nat.
