I was actually thinking of taking those and the top bonnet grills off and spraying them black?
[/quote]

The top bonnet grilles I don't have a major opinion on but the kidneys, IMO, no way - keep as is. But of course Paul, that's only my opinion and it may not be shared by many.

I don't know. I just feel it really sets it off and, like I said, retains a freshness to the appearance.

+1  :) please stick with titanium they just add to the look nicely imo, but it's your motor so do what pleases you but I loved my titanium grills loads on my old X5 they set it apart from the norm.

Nice! I'm always surprised just how much difference the titanium grilles make to the look of the E53. Still looks fresh.

I removed mine and went with colour coded surrounds and gloss black slats.

Personally hate the chrome/titanium.

Enjoying the pre heater.

Yeah I saw that, how do I use it??

The webasto is a rarer option on petrol models.

Access through headunit as you can set the timers for it to come on/off. You have the same for aux. ventilation too (timer to cool the car down on hot days).

I know Raj but that's not fair as your a serial modder the titanium grills didn't have a chance with you!  :P

Seems the general consensus is to keep the titanium grills. Saves me taking the car apart

I think the point about Raj's car being modded is a really good one. When I've seen pics of it, it clearly looks different and set apart from normal. In those circumstances, changing the grille makes perfect sense - it's making yet another change which, in combination with the other mods, makes it look like very little else on the road (in a good way Raj :) )

But if you're not going to 'serially mod', the titanium grilles have a 'high end model' look and more premium. IMHO.  As has been said though, it's your car. Lovely car, too. :)

Yes totally agree. I do like to 'personalise' my cars a little but its easy to slip from looking slick to looking modded. Reading between the lines - I'm probably getting too old for that kinda stuff and should leave it be!

Raj, can you post a pic of your X5?

Your never too old to mod buddy.

Image

Probably not the best pic of the front. Only quick one to hand at the mo.

You don't have to go OTT at all and subtle touches like colour coding the grill surrounds with black slats just give enough of a change.

Looks great. I really like the colour-coded skirts and trim! Might look into getting that done.
