4.8iS Coming up for sale 04 (54 )
Re: 4.8iS Coming up for sale 04 (54 )
No I didn't test drive the 40d, although I have driven several 30d's. Im sure it will do what it says on the tin . That said I cant see it being anywhere as good as 360 bhp of throbbing V8.

700nm of torque may change your mind......more than the V8.

Having never driven any V8 X, let alone the 4.8 I don't know what it's like, but the 40d does shift and I don't think it would be too far behind the 4.8 in a drag race.
you can of course get Jason to do a remap giving you that 360bhp again with much better fuel returns.

I have already considered re-map. Need to run it in first and get it a bit looser before seeing Jason, but it will be on the to do list for definitely.
The only thing that really really irritated me about the E70 was that you cannot reverse with the door open. Sometimes when I am reversing into a tight spot I find it easier to open the drivers door and obviously look down& backwards ( im old school ) and reverse. An E70 will immediately stick itself into Park.......................arghhhhhhhhhhh
Fkg nanny state car. Have ordered every camera option going so I shouldn't have to open the door now.
Its still irritating knowing it does that and would love to disable it.

There's always a way to disable things. Just need to know how.
Just sounds like it uses the door triggers that turn on the interior lights to send a signal to the software to tell it to disable drive as a safety feature.

Same thing happens on my e60 and as you say it's fecking annoying >:D must see if it's possible to disconnect it.
Good luck with the sale of the 4.8iS that is a serious amount of car for the money

Re: 4.8iS Coming up for sale 04 (54 )
Thanks, I think the 4.8 iS has gone. There is a chap cominga a long way friday to have a look & take it away if he likes what he sees, but as always these things are not done until they are done. I cant see any reason why the deal should fall through, but if it does there are 2 other people on the waiting list. I think whoever ends up with it will be very happy, its had everything done is 100 % spot on and nothing is outstanding. My every day car is an M5, and if I couldn't have an M5 id have a 4.8iS , its that good. Its staggering value. Honestly for the Money what else could you buy ? When I look back at some of the cars I have had, there are so many old cars out there chaging hands for stupid sums its quite staggering. MkII RS's making £12-18 K. E28 M5's most of which are rotten and have starship mileages, anywhere from £10-30 K !!!........E30 M3's, Ive seen them @ £40 K+.........madness for a LHD car that is well past its sell by date and most of those are rotten. Quattros @ £15-20 with 100-150 k on the clock, and the list goes on. Id rather have a 4.8iS any day of the week....honestly its really the only car you will ever need.

A top spec car at a fair price, I'm not surprised you have all but sold the beast.

She has gone to a great home. I hope she gives her new family years of trouble free motoring.
A sad day, but as they say, better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.
