Recently I've noticed when starting my car 2.0d 150 that's its very smoky in the morning. I would describe it as a grey smoke. I thought it was maybe over fuelling due to the bluefin so removed it. Unfortunately it never!
Anyone got any ideas? I've noticed a metal pipe to the right hand side of the engine which has a plug in and has dirty oil on. Is this an Intercooler pipe? Could that have anything to do wih it?

Poor photo but shows you the pipe
Re: First question!
My 05 X3 2.0d used to smoke a bit on cold start and when i'd boot it.
It did it pre and post remap and i put 20k hard miles on it in a year.
I sold it just before it hit 100k, but it was perfectly reliable and used to do 42mpg at a steady 75pmh.
Great car.

Re: First question!
I'm averaging 36 mpg combined. Cars done just under 39k
Re: First question!
That sounds about right. Is that before or after the remap?
Only 39k..! Thats bloody low mileage for an 05..nice one.

Re: First question!
Maybe a dead glow plug or two! Dealer diagnosis or possibly software/laptop/cable if you have them. I had similar problem with an E53 X5 3.0D which had a non working No1 glow plug! Wise to change them all if they have never been done.

That's what I thought buddy, I have the software and cable but haven't installed it on the garage pc yet.
