Yes, congratulations.  Always a great feeling placing the order.  What expected delivery date have you been given?

That looks like a very nice spec...... :ok:

Of course it would be even better if it X6 rather than X5, but at least you thought about it.. :D

Many congrats, and welcome!
Just a couple of things on the spec.  I don't know if it's been improved, but the voice control on mine (2 yrs old) just winds me up with its uselessness so I never use it - waste of £300.  I was also warned that if you listen to music the standard speakers are poor so might be worth upgrading.  I'm sure the spec can still be varied if you wanted to.
I'm sure you'll love it - it is a brilliant car ...

As I speak with a clear English accent, the voice control works great.  :P I use it quite a lot with only a couple of times when I've got the wrong request.  Having had a Honda version before, I can say hand on heart, it's miles better.  Saying that, I wouldn't spend the money to get it as an option unless it was part of a package.

My X6 doesn't have voice control and I miss it from my E70 days. Didn't drill down into menus too much but used it an awful lot to get me onto particular radio stations, enter navigation, phone numbers etc without faffing around with the buttons.

In fact, it took me an hour or so to work out I didn't have it as the button on the steering wheel and presence of voice for phone totally threw me. D'oh!

So mixed bag of views in the voice control.  What I find particularly frustrating is that you (1) have to use the precise commands that the system knows e.g. "CD and Multimedia" works "CD" does not, you need to learn and remember what these are (2) you have to navigate as per the stages of the idrive menu and can't just go straight to what you want e.g. "Play CD" won't get you anywhere (3) I have a Southern English accent and it usually gets it completely ars* about t*t. Whoops, the Queen wouldn't have said that would she.  Just my experience - I never use it anymore - but sounds like some of you have found it useful.
