Hi,i have just joined after browsing for a while & have a le mans blue 2004 4.8is with 38k on the clock.
It has nappa & pan roof & comms pack with black leather.
Had it 2 months now & love it to bits especially the sound...but not the fuel bills!!!

Sounds like a great car. Have you got any pictures to post? That's a fantastic mileage BTW :-)

Mmmmm mpg not the best but hey I know you love it. You could get it remapped so you can squeeze some more economy from it as well as A few extra horses :-)

Really happy with the mileage & your idea about a remap is a good one....& now understand why all the books & magazines say the 3.0d is the best x5 out of all of them.

Will post some pics once i have sussed it out!!! i never seem to get to grips with it!

Yours sounds like a lovely motor as well.

Welcome aboard Lee, your find the board very informative, however I think your find your have purchased the best E53 X5 model without doubt, if your assumptions of the best mean most economical then the 3.0d wins hands own however they do run out of puff very quickly.

Missed this one, Lee, sorry. The colour is the BEST (not that I'm biased of course) and I must say I love the sound of mine as well - never get tired of the V8 burble.....

Mine is at the dealers today having a few minor niggles sorted (have had mine 3 months now, an AUC, 05 plate, only 27K miles (now 33)) and the dealership screwed up royally with the courtesy car booking so I've ended up with the Dealer Principals M-series coupe for the day :) a 60-plate with 5000 miles on the clock, in white, its quite nippy :) but I still prefer the X!!! Quite a few 4.8 owners on here now, almost enough for a 4.8 subforum like the Outpost has :)
