upgrading bulbs on the ring lights
Re: upgrading bulbs on the ring lights
Raj, do you have any pics of your halos in day light and at night. That one hell of a price to charge for LED markers.
I've also been told M-Tech2 LED markers are also high grade and states as being the bridghtest, can be bought from HID direct for around £60.

I have replaced mine with AE V3 LEDE bulbs and there are very bright and white (but expensive). Can get cheaper ones if you want. They are not difficult to replace but do flicker on start-up (but I don't mind as it only lasts a second or so and I quite like it....lol).
Where did you get these?
I'm struggling with the SSDD ones.
Seems to be two LED bulbs that presumably I need to line up with something as the outer rings aren't really showing at all !
I bought mine direct from http://www.angelibright.com/. Was quick shipping.
You shouldn't have a problem with Teddy's though. The bulbs need to be properly in the holders but will light both rings equally. The led bulb should be right near the fibre optic ends of the rings.
Will be picking up the X tomorrow so will take some this weekend.
tbh, I bought mine quite sometime ago before the M-Tech2's came out, etc.

Re: upgrading bulbs on the ring lights
I changed mine with a set of PIAA H8 LEDs, no errors or troubles at all
would those work on a 2006 x5?

Re: upgrading bulbs on the ring lights
What bulbs are they on your X5 dean? these are H8 bulb fittings.
I've just checked the realoem site and your X5 looks like it uses H7 bulbs, you can get bright white H7s easily but from my experience they are prone to exploding, leaving you with a headlight full of broken glass I'm sure there will be an LED alternative though.

yea im guessing mine are the older H7 bulbs? being a 2006 car.
i dont want aggro from broken exploding bulbs, looks like i'll just have to wait til someone brings out a LED replacement

Dean, do you have xenons? The H7 bulb is the standard headlight bulb. The rings are lit by a halogen bulb and you can get LED replacements already.

Re: upgrading bulbs on the ring lights
Took some quick pics of the AE LED units I have along with one of the HID kits fitted to the fogs.
Not the best pics tbh as it was just getting dusky so camera couldn't quite pick up the brightness of the AE's.

There are various ones on the market. M-Tech ones are supposed to be very bright (on par with mine), mine were very expensive but I got mine before all the others came out and the only other person I would go with is Teddy at SSDD motorsport. I will find out a price for you and PM later.

I have OE xenons (but hav replaced the OE bulbs with 6000k), AiB LED angel eye bulbs and replaced the OE foglight bulbs with one of Teddy's HID kits. The front end looks so much better.
