Interesting!! I wonder how old that article is. The waiting time is now a bit better than four months. I ordered mine in September and it will be here next week.

Muses quietly......Perhaps I should put it straight through an Auction........................on second thoughts nah, I wanna play :driving:

It still begs the question of why would anyone pay so much more for something than it's list price if it's still in production? I suppose some people just can't wait. I had to wait more than 10 months for my E53 to be built so 10 weeks isn't too bad considering.

I would like to know what model they are talking about and how old as after checking BMW site there seems to be loads available, in fact I don’t believe the story full stop. £3,000 over list price of a new model as they are hard to get hold of there is more than 100 on BMW site as we speak now.

Sorry, but that story sounds a load of tosh. No matter how keen someone would be to buy a car at auction there is no way in hell they would pay over list price when new for a used car done 20k and by that amount as well. X6's are not in great demand and discounts are readily available plus as others point out there is plenty of choice via the AUC site. If this transaction did take place and the punter paid for the car, it would ring alarm bells at the auction house and I would guess that the police may well of got involved as it smacks of money laundering to me. More common place than many would believe at auctions. Clearly these are my own personal thoughts and not those of the site owners or any one else for the matter

Unless it was the MoD? There's a story I've overheard from a reputable source that the UK Military have bought a pair of ex-Demo X6Ms. I can't think why they'd need that sort of performance. We had fast enough vehicles when I worked for Surrey Police 30 years ago, but no one I've spoken to can think of a real reason for 'The Military' needing a 155 mph 'M' version SUV over some of the other options available, especially when the 40d and 50i offer similar performance for a lot less money.

But then again, we know how bad their procurement systems are are getting value for money.

Perhaps they need them to test their new aircraft carrier launching systems........... :P

X5Sport, anything is possible!!!! A dealer group I used to work for employed a buyer solely to purchase vehicles for the MOD, you name it he bought it. Yes we know or at least are given the idea the the MOD's procurement system leaves a lot to be desired but there is no way that any trade buyer would pay the sort of money that these 2 X6's allegedly made. Guess we will never know the full story

I'm with you there. Mind you after so many years in the business, I learned very quickly in the early days to ignore anything that was stated or said in any 'Parkers' format

Went in to my local Dealer today and they offered me £40k on a car with almost every option installed and less than 5k miles on the clock, and under a year old. I have since checked the BMW UAC site and lesser specced cars with higher mileage are on the forecourt at nearly £50k. Needless to say I have hinted that they need to drastically improve on their initial offer, or I will go elsewhere. There is simply no way these cars are losing more than £2k per month!
