boiler on the blink..or rather banging itself!!

The problem with the BG system is it's all a fixed price menu based system.  Our quote from them was similar and £300 was just for the electrics and as the only thing needed was disconnecting four wires and reconnecting them I thought the figure was a joke,  Their price was based on complete new electrics being required - and that just isn't needed.

All the BG engineers who come here tell us to buy either Worcester or Vaillant.  The BG 'own brand' boilers are Gloworm which are the cheap range of Vaillant - and not really all that good and more expensive than the Gloworm equivalent.

When ours needs doing I'll get one of the ones above (not BG/Gloworm) and find someone to fit it for me.  I'm sure there's someone on this forum who does boilers.
