Company Car - good ideas please!

Post by CondorX5 » Fri Oct 29, 2010 8:46 pm

Right...now that I've been in my new job for 2 weeks, I've tanked up 700 miles-ish business mileage on my X, so I think in the longer term it may be better for me to accept the company offer of a car of my choice for £30K......no lists to have to select from, anything I want except Subaru Imprezas with gold wheels, pure sports cars blah di blah. I'll try to organise a deal where the dealer takes my old Rangie off my hands as well so I have room on the drive for the company car!!! That aside, I'd appreciate some advice - which dealers may be ready to slash prices on demos etc etc. I drive long distances and need to keep going in the worst of weather, so a 4x4 / xdrive X1 / X3/ Audi Q5 come to mind. Also have a dicky back so need a decent sport seat with front seat heating. Satnav and climate control essential, leather interior. A 2 litre diesel would be nice, power / servo steering and a decent-ish sound system. Any ideas as to what cars I should look at or dealers happy to offer something around that spec for £30K? BMW would be nice, but not essential. One of the other directors managed to get a sub-30k deal on a new 520d touring, so I know the discounts are out there. The company said I just need to go shopping for what I want and tell the dealer to invoice them and they'll sort it for me - I'm delighted with the offer so I don't have to kill my X but as I'll be stuck with the car for three years (we can change every three years) I want to make sure I don't make mistakes......... :D :D :D

Just a quick thought...anyone have any opinions on the Ford Kuga? it looks like a nice crossover car as a company car....a great specced one is under £30K, the BMWs and Audis come with nothing and all the extras mount up rapidly....generally good reviews on it as well.

Its on my radar, but doesn't seem to get as good a review as the Kuga. Also more expensive for less toys .....you know what it is, once a BMW owner you can't cope without the toys :)

I know its probably crazy, but I decided I wanted a "crossover" vehicle and Audi and BMW just didn't have the spec I wanted in the Q5 or the X3 nor did the Tiguan, for the £30K mark that Kia are offering on their new edition (launched tomorrow) Sportage. A new one with absolutely everything and every conceivable option except the fancy name clocks in at about £27K and I negotiated a set of winter wheels with that as well. I'm not a snob (even though I usually drive a BMW!) and this little car gives loads of bang for the bucks plus an eco dynamic engine, so who cares if its called Kia - Ford dealer up the road couldn't give me a confirmed date of delivery for a top spec Kuga, which is also quite a decent crossover - none in the system, apparently it will have to be factory built and even if they divert an existing order and amend it, it "might be late Jan or Feb 2011, or possibly later". The Kias are launched tomorrow with the first top spec models arriving on 4 January and they've promised me one of those, so I'll get the company to confirm that tomorrow. I'm quite chuffed with it - its a stylish number - Audi's top designer went over to Kia and it shows on the new Sportage and its different to the other execs at work in their run-of-the-mill Merc / BMW / Audi selections. :driving: :driving:
