New owner with headlight question

Post by Paul_h_8 » Sun Mar 03, 2013 9:05 am

Hi I've just bought the Mrs a 52 plate 3.0 D Sport in black. Previous owner or one of them has split the headlights to install angel eyes. Passenger side isn't working and headlight is misted up badly. Was just going to replace them with some standard lights but what cheap under £200 upgrade options do I have?

I've been looking at projector angel eyes on eBay see item number 160979878354. Anybody got these or have any advice for a newbie

Thanks in advanced

Hi and  :hi: Paul, good to see another new X5er.  Unfortunately I'm have no experience of your issue but hope you get it sorted quickly and in budget to allow the Mrs and possible you, the time to enjoy your car.  ;)

And of course photos will be received with open arms.  :camera:

I haven't looked at the eBay advert, but I think the OEM projected lights will not fit into your pre facelift car. I think you will need the aftermarket Depo lights if you want the projected lights, sounds like someone has split the old lenses off to fit aftermarket angle eyes, and not revealed them properly.

You may just need to take the headlight out and repair and seal properly.

Ubatoid has fitted the Depo headlights to his pre facelift recently. pM him to see if he wants to sell the original OEM

I did have and I have sold them. Interestingly for the same amount as what I paid for my new ones.

First off we need to acertain wether you have original xenons or just halogens ? the Depo ones only seem to be available on German eBay,I would say its worth the effort looking for these as the fit is spot on and they do look just right - there are a lot of cheap and nasties out there so be carefull. oh and if your going the Xenon route, consider 55 watt units they are way better than the standard 35watt.
