Single CD cage removal

Hi, does anyone know how to remove the plastic cage which holds the OEM stereo in please? I have located 2 screws who which joins the cage to the heater cage that's it. Thanks

12" hacksaw blade. It's part of the moulded dash on yours. I had the same problem, the two screws are to hold the heater control facia to the dash moulding. The bracket you have also is probably for the E39.
I had to hack it all out with a loose blade. Once you start there is no return  :'( :'( :'(!
I also had to drill 2 holes to fit the bracket, these were under the silver dash trims. I didn't get any instructions of how to install either. Not on YouTube either, lots showing E39 and E46's but not the E53 MID version

I am confused now. Me and professorx have just taken delivery of the Andrive system and he has taken out the cage. I was told by Andrive that it was a straight swap but after speaking to professorx, he was advised to take the cage out which I wasn't. I am a bit miffed now as the whole idea of not going the double din route and buy one of these was to avoid the hacking of my car. Also once I have hacked away, the unit doesn't come with a cage to slot it in. Don't know what to do now. Any ideas or is hacking the only option?  To be honest. The only bit that is stopping the new unit going in with the cage in place is the very top of the cage directly below the centre air vents. I suppose I could hack away this section.

Need to see the back of the Android unit, to be able to help...

Sanj, I have had to cut away the top of the cage below the air vents. Problem now is the weight of the unit is pulling the back of it down so had to wedge it in for now. Will need to find a metal cage to fit in to stop it dropping.

You could probably use some strip metal just screwed in.

I think this is why they used to have 6.2 inch screens, so the din on the back could just slot in the original cage.

People reported something similar with the 7 inch hualigan and dynavin.

I've been a bit luckier in that my x5 had a third party unit before and seems it may have originally been a nav car so the cage was removable and the unit fits fine. Not properly fitted yet but will report back ASAP.

These people who sell you the aftermarket head units know there is a problem fitting the units to the E53 MID cars, they don't tell you that you will have to hack the dash out, or we wouldn't be so quick to buy them.
Once they've got your money it's your problem.

Yep that's what miffed me. Anyway its hacked to death now. I will be posting comments on the Andrive in a few days time now I have it fitted. Need to speak to them tomorrow to iron out a few niggles first.
