Is it for use as a day time driving light , or a fog light? As my German is non existent . Why don't you just drive around with your fog lights on. everybody else's does!!!

Driving around with fog lights on when not required is an offence that could lead to handing over some of your hard earned cash and getting pesky little points on that lovely clean licence. (If it indeed is!)

If you have DRL's, on in the fog light location, would that not confuse a copper, who would give you a tug, thinking it was your fog lights you had on ? Or are they quite obviously DRL's ?
And then when actually driving in fog, would the DRL's be any good ?

BMW supply the early Philips DRL kit with 5 LEDs which you can buy elsewhere and self-install for a lot less then BMW want.

It's this kit as an example, though you should be able to get a discount on that.

Possibly, but I would then say its up to the vehicle owner to prove they are DRLs and not fog lights.  I also feel they would look a little cheesy, a bit like the LEDs people place on their cars to look like DRLs but don't.

As to whether or not they could act as fog lights, unlikely.  Fog lights are designed to throw their light low and wide, what are the chances the makers of these LEDs have designed them to do the same.......slight.

When running as DRL's they only provide a low amount of light output, but when being used for full fogs provide full output. That's what little I picked up from the ad.

I had the drl option activated at the weekend with a bmw computer on mine but no lights come on whether the light position is in auto or off. Is this suppose to work or not??? If not why does it give the option on user preferences?

i played with the setting with the scanner sometime back and it worked.. although what i wanted was teh AEs and there was no option for that.

now i have AEs enabled as DLRs from the intravee and that works as well..

same car as yours..

On one setting Eu I think, the rings and dipped beam come on with the ignition. US setting the reduced power high beam are on, you can also have the front indicators as marker lights, US style, they stay on all the time and flash when you indicate. There is no selection to have just the rings on. ( I don't think )

I didn't think the AEs were ever one of the DRL options, so that would explain no selection.  They were usually just the sidelights.
