What Leather Cleaner

Okay Guys,

I'm feeling the need to give the seats a clean and wonder what cleaners you use.  I do want to maintain the Matt finish and not end up with the shinny/slippery finish.

I always use baby wipes. Johnson and Johnson non scented to be precise  ::)

Mmmmm, now you mention it, the wife does the same on the house sofa, I may have to try them.

I used them when the kids were little but when I had the clubsport it needed some stitch work on the rear bench. I took it to a specialist and they recommended the same. Now it's all I use.

I've always used baby wipes, with great results. Sparing use when dirty/needing to lift dye so not something I'm doing every month.

There are countless threads all over the place which suggests my continued use of baby wipes will tear a hole in the space-time continuum, but I've haven't had a problem yet.

I have about 3,000 of the damned things not currently in use so I might steal a pack - for testing purposes dear - whilst I still have the opportunity....

I use zymol leather cleaner and restorer, seems to work fine on mine.

I got one made by the same people as t cut.

Cleans and feeds the leather leaving a slight sheen but not wet look or sticky/slimy etc. just a natural look.

Has a slight leather smell. But not offensive. Just spray on and wipe with a microfibre cloth. Used it on my stressless sofa too looks great.

The leather feels quite soft and supple afterwards. Pretty much like new . 

Comes in a fairly basic white spray bottle. I can check the exact brand later if you want. I would buy it again.

ive used baby wipes in the past for cleaning,. theyre awesome at removing loads of stains. They once got black biro of my beige leather seats (unbelievably)

Gliptone liquid leather feeds and makes it smell like new leather smell  ::)

I tried the baby wipe route today and worked a dream. I'm sure it won't do my thing for the leather but as a quick and cheap clean they are spot on.

I also use baby wipes for a regular clean (once a month or so) and occaisionally use gliptone liquid leather.

I remember reading somewhere that leather in a car should be treated in a similar mannar to skin, as it is skin. So as baby wipes clean the most delicate of human skin it is perfect for cleaning leather seats.

On a separate note I have some very small scuffs on my seat and was thinking of ordering gliptone liquid leather scuffmaster kit to get rid of them.

Leather needs to be "fed" to keep it supple and to prevent it drying out, and should be cleaned frequently to avoid damage to the thin coloured layer.  Skin cleaning products wont harm the leather, but most leather is coated for colour, and leather cleaning products are usually formulated with this in mind.

Baby wipes should be pretty safe for a quick clean up though as they are extremely mild. I try to clean+feed every time I clean the car

The one I got is Auto Finish by Car Plan, and it works great on my sofa, as well as the leather in the car. Leaves the leather clean, with a very natural shine (not glossy, or sticky).

It smells quite nice if you like the "new leather" smell.

yes, leather was never meant to be in cars. they were meant to be on cows! where the cow has a natural system of replenishment of dead cells.  )

once in the car, the leather its left to its own devices, plus whatever help we can give..

so i don't actually do babywipes - although i'm sure its safe, but im not sure if it 'helps'. so a leather care balm should help once in a while..  :thumbup:
