This evening my Self Level Inactive warning came on and I used the following procedure:

1. Didn't panic
2. Totally Ignored warning
3. Carried on driving
4. Switched Ignition on/off
5.Carried on as if nothing happened.

On a serious note though, to the best of my knowledge there isn't even self level suspension on the car so I took it that it was just a quirk of the system due to the freezing temperatures where I live. The warning cleared itself after I turned the car on/off and I'm not thinking of getting it looked into further - is this the right thing to do?

On another topic, that seatbelt alarm that sounds when you place a bag on the passenger seat is an absolute pain in the backside - is there any way to overide it? It's a valid alarm if you had a passenger sitting there without a belt on but very shortsighted to think that people wouldn't just leave a bag on there :x

all x5's bar the very very early y plate cars have rear self levelling suspension via an air compressor and air bags, if you look you can see the little feebback arm similar to that of a control valve positioner etc!! so you do have self level suspension but not the fully adjustable air suspension which is the optional extra. hope this helps.

regards seatbelt.....cant help you there bar buying just a buckle from scrappies or stealer to clip into the clasp to cancel it out!! lol :)

Oooops, that's right - it doesn't have adjustable suspension.

I do remember reading that this warning pops up occasionally though on various people's cars, so it's not always a cause for concern... I'll just keep an eye on it for now.
The car didn't seem to ride/sit any differently though so hopefully it is just down to the cold.

As per the buckle idea, I might have to go down that route - can't believe that there's no overide on it and it constantly goes off :roll:

had it happen to mine a few times after parking over night with two wheels up the kerb and two wheels not. After a swith off and swith back on all levelled up and was fine.
