I am really impressed. Best I got so far is 19 mpg combined. I have X5 40 xdrive with 15k of option including TV, internet. I think I need someone to show me how to drive this car.

I'm sure you won't be short of offers to swap...

My 3.0d is sitting at 21mpg at the moment due to WAY too much town driving, including a trip into Central London last weekend.

Under 1k miles on mine, was showing 27.4mpg until I went on a mainly motorway drive (about 180 miles) yesterday which upped it to 28.5. Not yet run in but shows its happier motorway cruising. Unsurprising since it must take a lot of juice to get it moving from a standstill.

Mine was down to 19mpg when manually calculated after the last refuel. I have used the aux heater a lot in the past month so wondering how much effect that has? I had assumed it would be minimal per 15 minute run.

Averaging about 18.5mpg at the moment but thats short trips in london.......averaged 27mpg down to the south of france and back but that was sitting at between 75mph and something with a 1 in it  :-[

Thinking i might have to drive a bit slower in france this year and see what i can get  :)

First car was a Morris 8 series E made in 1947.  Owner's anual had a maxim in it - "speed costs money".  It had another - "a clean car goes better than a dirty one".  One is true, the other seems to be!

Present car E70 3.0d 7 seater pre efficiency dynamics.  30.3mpg since last service 6500 miles ago (now done 79K).  Moral seems to be to stick to speed limits and try to keep swingometer hanging left!  And, I agree with comments about cruise control - I only use it on roads with average speed cameras.

Ours 3.0dxdrive is currently averaging 31.5mpg. Worst tank full  was 24.6mpg when it was used for short journeys for a month. Best is 35.2 which included a cross country journey from Cheshire to North Cambridgeshire.

On a trip up to Northumberland last year fully loaded with a RoofBox (KAMEI Corvara 475)  it managed 34.2mpg - although the weather was terrible and speeds were somewhat reduced.
