Hello and Question from a Newbie - E70 3.0d or 4.0d M sport??
Re: Hello and Question from a Newbie - E70 3.0d or 4.0d M sport??
Surely any decent insurer would take your claim history from your fleet policy.
I was with admiral on an admittedly older car by the time I sold it (sold for £24k but owned since new) and paid £650 including declared re-map.
Paying less than that on the Porsche and only add to pay an additional £170 (for 9 months)to insure RS of which the last model becme one of the most stolen cars out there.

In case you missed it, the 40d is still a 3-litre (as is the M50d) just with extra hairdryers.

I'm just down the road in Wanstead/South Woodford and pay £650 or so with Axa. 7 years no claims though. See this thread on PH about BMW thefts, that will explain what Adrian Flux are telling you:
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topi ... k+BMW+keys
Cayenne's might be expensive with no deals but that is for a reason, they are great cars and the diesels seem to hold their value very well.
Even the lowly 30d SE is quite rapid with the 8 speed box and it handles well, I took it for a blast along Gravel Lane just yesterday and it's great fun. It's pretty rapid but of course the 40d will be much faster.
The main thing to watch out for on M-Sports is the hard ride on sports suspension, big wheels and run-flats, especially if you're not the only driver.

Good point on the runflats. 19" wheels give a gentler ride than 20" or 21" wheels. 19" wheels are standard but a lot if owners spec the 20's. I have a set of 19" & 20" and the 19's are much more comfortable a ride.

The car however looks under wheeled on 20s so 19s are even worse!

Hi and welscome,
Re insurance I used Aviva who took in to account my driving a company lease car for 3 years. So when i went with them they gave me an introductory discount the equivalent of 5 years NCD on my smart car for work.
Then at the end of the 1st year I was then given the 5yrs NCD for the following year - very helpful. The NCD I had built up on my other car I then used for the X5.

I have to avert my eyes when approaching my car (on 18s) )

@535dboy
Indeed yes
I expect a good chunk off that next year, when I have the time/chance to shop around though.
Got knobbed over this year due to wife's chemo appointments, ending up in hospital, and the freebie 7 days running out etc.
Plus I live in footballers' land where the tw@s leave keys in the ignition when winter starting etc.............
Last year I was with >Than who were very good (albeit hard to understand) when I had a claim. I would recommend them/go with them again myself.

Thanks guys!
Will try those various companies 2mo, am also going to give NFU a call as they have a 4x4 scheme.
Looking forward to that brutal shove the 4.0d gives when hit the noisy pedal!
