4 button key?

Post by Hoppy_70 » Thu Feb 07, 2013 9:54 pm

I've noticed that the 7 series key looks better than the standard e70 key. Anyone know if it can be adapted to fit our cars? Could the 4th button be made to work for us (ejector seat??)

This is an image of the key, I don't even know if it will fit in the hole...

Is the 4th key just to put lights on?

It looks like the button at top is for the alarm ultrasonics to switch on and off, if you leave a child or dog in the car

It won't fit in the key slot. The F01 key is similar to the F10 for the 5 Series that I have and it is 10-20% bigger than an E70 key.

As stated above it won't fit the E70.

My F07 GT has the same type of key (well more like the plain plastic version that the F10 also has). The fourth button does indeed activate the lights, however on our key it has a diamond logo. My Dad's F01 7 has the Chrome key like above.

So after rembering what my Dad's key was and seeing my plaing key from the GT, I actually bought one from ebay really cheap hoping that I may be able to swap the insides over to get the chrome trim on mine (I know that they can't be re-programmed). Unfrotunately, it looks like all that can be swapped out is the battery - the whole key appears to be sealed  :(
